  2. a German auxiliary cruiser, was intercepted
  3. on 15 Feb 1940 by HM destroyer Intrepid off
  4. the coast of Norway. It was carrying the
  5. captured crews of Allied merchant ships sunk
  6. by the German battleship Admiral Graf Spee in
  7. the S Atlantic, and took refuge in Josing
  8. fjord, where it was cornered by HMS Cossack,
  9. under Captain Vian, and ran aground. Vian's
  10. men released 299 British sailors.
